Operating Sessions

With railroads ranging from long runs in full scenery to no scenery but a lot of switching, there will be plenty of operating session opportunities. You don’t even have to leave the hotel, with scheduled operating sessions on the Austin Model Railway Society’s modular layout and walk-up operations on the Cen-Tex Division’s South Plains switching layout.

There will be dozens of off-site operating sessions during 5 time windows on Thursday evening and all day Friday (plus a bonus slot on Sunday after the convention).

How to Sign Up for Operating Sessions

Operating session sign-up will be handled after registration.

All registrants will be contacted by email (by Speed Muller) in the order in which they registered, beginning in late April or early May. When it is your turn, you will receive instructions on how to select your operating sessions using OperatingSessions.com. If you’re interested in operating, please create a free account on that site in advance.

You do not need to request or reserve operating sessions ahead of time as part of registration, and there is no deposit required this year.

If you did not include an email address with your registration, please contact the registrar so we can ensure you receive your sign-up instructions.
