Operating Sessions

With railroads ranging from long runs in full scenery to no scenery but a lot of switching, there will be plenty of operating session opportunities. You don’t even have to leave the hotel, with scheduled operating sessions on the Austin Model Railway Society’s modular layout and self-service operations on the Cen-Tex Division’s South Plains switching layout.

There will be 5 off-site sessions with dozens of operating slots available, on Thursday evening and all day Friday (plus a bonus slot on Sunday after the convention).

Operating session slots will be distributed first-come, first-served based on your registration date, so register early to get first dibs on the slots you’d like the most. You’ll be contacted closer to the convention to get your preferences, so make sure to list a good email address on your registration form.

To discourage no-shows (which can negatively impact operating sessions for everyone involved) a $10 deposit is required for each session; this deposit will be refunded at the operating session.
