About the Presenter

Steve is one of the LSR’s newest Master Model Railroaders, completing his AP journey in 2025.

Starting at age 10, Steve caught the model railroading bug from his dad’s hand-me-down models. By his teenaged years he was detailing Athearn Blue Box kits, hanging out at the local hobby shop and later even working there on weekends.

After twenty years of college, career, marriage, and family, Steve finally found time to return to his modeling, when he found a new generation of models and started building a layout in a portion of a spare bedroom, once again hanging out in his local hobby shop.

Steve wrote several articles for Railroad Model Craftsman about models he scratch built and his layout, which started his AP Journey. Steve especially enjoys creating, building and detailing.

Steve is now the president of the Austin Model Railroad Society and actively promotes model railroading among young people through the club and by refurbishing train sets to be sold to 10-year-old boys (and girls) to get them started.
