Railroads exist to move things from one place to another safely, on-time, and profitably. This clinic will review how railroads try to do that, and how you can implement realistic operations on your model railroad, including:

  • Jobs on the railroad,
  • Various methods railroads have implemented to operate trains, and
  • Planning for operations on model railroads

We’ll even touch on how to earn the Chief Dispatcher’s AP certificate.

This clinic pairs well with Peter’s other clinic, Moving Trains on the Railroad (about the methods of controlling traffic on real and model railroads) that will also be presented at the convention.

About the Presenter

Peter has been active in model railroading and the NMRA for many years. After previously serving as Chair of the 2018 LSR Convention and Chief of Staff for the 2023 National NMRA Convention, he is currently Secretary of the LSR, Editor and Publisher of The Marker Lamp, Treasurer for the Austin Model Railway Society, Chair for the Austin Train Show, and Webmaster for this year’s LSR Convention. (And tired.)

In addition to model railroading, he enjoys photography, building computers, gaming, 3D printing, and more.
