The clinic will cover realistic operation on a small shelf layout, including techniques to extend the total time of an operating session. A typical session takes a boomer crew over 2 hours to switch 15 cars.

Also discussed will be the application of Excel for the planning and paperwork for each session.

About the Presenter

Lou Adler has been an active model railroader since joining the Purdue Model Railroad Club in 1969. He has built 6 layouts that were designed for operations, including the use of TT&TO to control traffic flow. All of Lou’s layouts have been modeled on the Southern Pacific RR in central and southeastern New Mexico. He has participated in over 60 operating weekends around the US, serving as road crew, yardmaster and dispatcher. Lou is MMR #530.
