The American railroad played vital roles in America’s fight for freedom during World War I and World War II from troop trains to hospital trains to mortuary trains; our railroads succeeded. The government took over the operations of the American railroad during World War I in order to manage all the schedules and needs of the military. In addition, there were actual railroad operating battalions in Europe during World War II. This clinic reveals lesser known facts about a part of American railroad history.
